The lower half of the formation is characterized by a regular alternation of medium- to ﬁnegrained, thick (3–15 m) ﬂuvial channel sandstone bodies and ﬂoodplain deposits. The ﬂoodplain deposits comprise red mudstones intercalated with centimeterto-decimeter thick, ﬁne-grained sandstone layers.
